Merhaba Eindhoven is a vibrant cultural festival celebrating Turkish culture and community in the heart of Eindhoven. It was the perfect stage for Joy Dance Lab to share the beauty of belly dance – a dance form deeply rooted in Middle Eastern and Turkish cultural heritage.

What made this performance truly special was that for many of our dancers, this was their very first time performing on stage. These are women who walked into Joy Dance Lab as complete beginners – some of them never having danced in their lives before. They came curious, perhaps a little nervous, and with an open heart. And on the stage at Merhaba Eindhoven, they shone.

Stepping out of your comfort zone takes courage. Performing in front of an audience for the first time takes even more. Watching these women dance with grace, passion and genuine joy was one of the proudest moments in Joy Dance Lab's history. They did not just perform belly dance – they told a story of growth, confidence and transformation.

Belly dance is more than just a dance form. It is a powerful tool for empowering women. At Joy Dance Lab, our goal has always been to help women build confidence, connect with their bodies and embrace their inner strength through this beautiful and ancient art. Seeing that come to life on the stage at Merhaba Eindhoven was a dream come true.

The event was also a wonderful opportunity to share the beauty of belly dance as part of Turkish culture with the wider Eindhoven community. Eindhoven is a diverse and open city, and moments like these – where cultures meet through art and movement – remind us of what makes this city so special. The Merhaba Eindhoven stage performance brought together dance, music, and diverse traditions.
