Joy Dance Lab at Dutch Design Week 2024 – Belly Dance Meets Modern Design in Eindhoven

We are thrilled to announce that Joy Dance Lab performed at Dutch Design Week 2024 – one of the most exciting cultural events in Eindhoven!

Dutch Design Week is Europe's largest design event, held annually in Eindhoven and attracting thousands of visitors from around the world. This year, Joy Dance Lab was proud to be part of this incredible celebration of creativity, art and innovation.

We performed on two Saturdays – 19th and 26th October 2024 – at around 20:30 at Switch, located at Kanaaldijk-Zuid 5a, 5613LE Eindhoven. The venue provided a stunning backdrop where the ancient art of belly dance met the cutting edge world of modern design.

What made this performance so special was the fusion of worlds. Belly dance is one of the oldest art forms in human history, rooted in the expression of feminine energy, emotion and storytelling through movement. Placing this ancient art form within the context of Dutch Design Week created a breathtaking contrast – tradition and innovation, movement and stillness, ancient rhythm and modern creativity.

For our Joy Dance Lab community, performing at Dutch Design Week was more than just a stage appearance. It was a statement. It showed that belly dance belongs in cultural conversations. It belongs on festival stages. It belongs in Eindhoven.

Our dancers brought their full energy, passion and joy to both performances, and the audience response was absolutely incredible. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do – not just to dance, but to connect, inspire and celebrate the power of women through movement.
